How Idle Boxing Gym works

What is Idle Boxing Gym?
Idle Boxing Gym is an idle game about boxing. You run your own gym: every hit on the punching bag earns training points (TP), which you use to make your boxer stronger. Equipment and staff keep training for you – even while you're away, for up to eight hours. With the prize money from fights you buy gear that shows on your boxer, and work your way up the opponent ladder to world champion and beyond.
As in every good idle game, the numbers grow fast: a few training points per click turn into thousands per second, and the bar brawler at the start gives way to opponents with millions of health points. Idle Boxing Gym runs in your browser on phone and computer, with no sign-up and no download.
Controls
Tap or click the punching bag; on a computer the space bar works too. Quick hits in a row build a combo that is counted in the top left corner of the gym picture. In a fight the space bar starts the fight, and tapping cheers your boxer on: the next punch comes a little sooner. The Training, Fight, Shop, Gym and Achievements tabs switch between the areas.
The three currencies
- Training points (TP): you earn them by hitting the punching bag and automatically from your gym equipment. Use them to improve your boxer and expand the gym.
- Money: comes as prize money for fights you win. Use it to buy gear in the shop.
- Legend points (LP): you get them when you end your career. They stay forever and make every new career faster.
Training: your boxer
Four stats decide how well your boxer fights. Every level costs a bit more than the last.
- Power: more damage per punch and more TP per click.
- Stamina: more health in a fight.
- Speed: more punches per second, up to a cap.
- Defense: reduces the damage you take. Each level helps a little less than the last, but it always helps.
Every click also earns a small share of your current TP per second – so clicking stays worthwhile later on.
Gym: equipment that trains for you
In the Gym tab you buy equipment that produces TP without you: punching bag, speed bag, ring, sparring partner and trainer – each much more expensive and more powerful than the last. Each additional unit of the same equipment costs 15 percent more. At 10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 300 units, the equipment's output doubles. These thresholds are the most important buying goals in the whole game.
Shop: gear in six tiers
There are five pieces of gear in six tiers – Training, Club, Pro, Champion, Legend and Mythic. Each tier has its own colour, which you see right on your boxer.
- Gloves: more damage
- Hand wraps: more TP per click
- Shoes: more speed
- Mouthguard: more health
- Headgear: more defense
The Mythic tier is so expensive that only Legend League prize money can pay for it.
Fight: the opponent ladder
On the opponent ladder your boxer fights through 25 opponents, each with their own look and backstory – from a bar brawler through city and national champions up to the world champion. Every fifth opponent is a boss: more health, harder punches, but triple prize money. Beat opponent no. 20 and you become world champion yourself; after that come five especially tough Hall of Fame opponents.
A fight runs automatically and lasts 45 seconds at most. If both are still standing, it goes to the scorecards. With auto fight your boxer keeps boxing on their own. You can challenge opponents you have already beaten again, but that only pays part of the prize money.
The Legend League
Beyond the Hall of Fame the Legend League awaits: ten brutally tough opponents with huge prize money. They only step into the ring once you have collected enough legend points – the first from 500 LP, the last from 10,000 LP.
Ending your career and becoming a legend
From your win over opponent no. 10 you can end your career. Your boxer then starts over, but gets legend points – the more TP you earned in this career and the more bosses you beat, the more. Each legend point gives a permanent 10 percent more TP and 5 percent more damage and health. That is why the second career goes much faster than the first.
Achievements and friends
The Achievements tab holds 27 achievements. Each one you unlock gives a permanent 2 percent more TP.
That is also where you share your invite link. For every friend who comes through that link and beats opponent no. 10, you get a permanent 5 percent more TP and 2.5 percent more damage and health – up to ten friends, so 50 and 25 percent at most. The bonus arrives the next time your game checks, even if you aren't playing with that friend right now. You don't need an account for this.
Duel against a friend
In the Fight tab you challenge a friend with a code. The two browsers connect directly (WebRTC), and the host runs the fight. Money and ladder stay untouched – only the win counts.
Strategy and tips
- Buy to thresholds. Buy one piece of equipment up to its next doubling (10, 25, 50 …) instead of spreading your points across all of them.
- Train evenly. Power alone is no use if you go down after three hits. Stamina and defense belong in the mix.
- Gear up before a boss. Bosses pay triple. A new glove tier before the boss fight often makes the difference.
- Become a legend early. Ending your first career as soon as you can pays off: even a few legend points make the restart faster.
- Check in regularly. The gym keeps training for up to eight hours without you. Drop by briefly and often, and you waste nothing.
Common beginner mistakes
- Always buying the cheapest equipment instead of saving for the next threshold.
- Stepping up against a boss without buying gear first.
- Never ending your career for fear of starting over – the restart is the real engine of the game.
Frequently asked questions
Does the game keep running when I close the page?
Yes, in the idle-game sense: on your next visit the game works out how long you were away and credits you the TP – up to eight hours.
Where is my progress saved?
Your entire save stays in your browser's local storage and is backed up every few seconds. If you clear the site data or switch browsers, you start over.
Behind the scenes
All the numbers that make up the game live in a single place in the code: prices, growth, opponent strength, boss factors and rewards. Opponents follow a formula – each is a fixed step stronger than the last, and bosses get a surcharge – with a few individual opponents deliberately tuned a little easier or harder. The boxers are drawn in the browser, with skin tone, hairstyle, beard, shorts and height as simple values; the gear changes colour with every tier.
